DR3 is a barcode label and tag printer available as either a thermal transfer or direct thermal printing solution. It supports up to 0.28mm (0.011”) thick media, which makes it suitable for tag printing requirements in the retail, hospitality, transportation and entertainment sectors: apparel and garment tags, luggage tags, and admission tickets. It is equally suited to meet label printing requirements, from price markdown to shelf-edge labels, to food safety labels and more.

The DR3 can be operated either as a standalone printer or in offline mode. As a standalone printer using the keypad as input device, there is no need to connect to a PC.

The SATO keypad with a LCD graphical display allows users to conveniently key in variable data. Label formats are created and stored in the keypad internal memory or Secure Digital (SD) memory card and the operator inputs data via the keypad for the variable fields of these pre-defined label templates. At time of print, the print data is sent from the keypad to DR3 for printing.  

The printer can be operated in online mode too and it connects easily to a host system to enable monitoring and remote printer management of even multiple printers. The DR3 in online mode supports full SMPL printing.  

This label and tag printer supports a wide variety of media types and can accommodate large label rolls of up to a diameter of 150mm. The printer also accepts suitably long ribbons of up to 300m. That frees up time in reloading labels and ribbons.

DR3's unique plug-in interface card design offers flexible connectivity options for users depending on their application requirements. Connectivity options to choose from: Parallel IEEE1284, LAN, USB or high speed RS-232C interfaces.  With flexible media pitch sensors, it enables support for tags and labels with I-Mark or reflective black mark on the back or top, as well as sensing of gap, centre, side or jump hole.

DR3 offers a wide range of accessories options for enhanced convenience and performance, and to facilitate on-demand printing. Options include: Dispenser, which automatically separates the label from its backing paper; Cutter, to precisely individual labels and tags; Stacker, which enables neat stacking of printed tags after printing and cutting; and label rewinder.
