SATO Corporation announces the appointments of Daphne Tay as Executive Officer.

Singapore , September 2nd, 2006
SATO Corporation has announced, after a recent board meeting in Japan, the appointment of Ms Daphne Tay as Executive Officer. The move marks the first time the Board
will welcome a foreigner, one of the two first women ever
to be assigned this responsibility.

Ms Tay, who joined SATO in 1987, currently serves as Director of SATO International and SATO Asia Pacific. She has been instrumental in the expansion of SATO’s business outside
of Japan; doing the groundwork for the setting up of the many subsidiaries overseas, ‘evangelising’ the principles and philosophy of ‘the SATO way’, and importantly grounding the business in SATO’s unique ‘DCS & Labelling Worldwide’ approach. SATO Asia Pacific, where Ms Tay started her career, is now hailed as a shining example of the robustness of the ‘DCS & Labelling Worldwide’ business model, which has been so successful in Japan. Recently, she has been key to the successful integration of the recently acquired Checkpoint ’s Barcode Systems (BCS) Businesses into the European Group Member Companies’ (GMCs’) operations.

Toshihiro Waki, Managing Director of SATO International commented, “We are extremely pleased to confirm the appointment of Daphne as Executive Officer. She brings tremendous experience in consumables and label p roduction management. The company will benefit not only from her knowledge of the various SATO products, services and solutions, but also on account of her experience, she is in a unique position to relay the values that the company stands for to the ever-growing global SATO community.” Mr Waki added, “This appointment represents a need to reflect a management team, increasingly diverse in terms of age, gender, experience and culture. It again aligns perfectly with our corporate vision and mission and is further evidence that SATO is committed to leveraging the skills and experience of its staff worldwide, and that in fact the company firmly believes that its future success will depend on the successful blending of such various capabilities available.”
