In the Gold Partner League

SATO has been a Gold Partner of the METRO Group Future Store Initiative since 2004. The METRO Group Future Store Initiative is a cooperation between companies from the retail, consumer goods, IT and service sectors to drive forward the modernization process in the retail sector in this time of rapidly-changing market conditions. To this end, more than 85 partners, among them SATO, have collaborted to develop and test innovative technologies and real-world concepts. SATO brings to the mix technology innovation and extensive experience in RFID installations.

The METRO Group Future Store Initiative's aim is to pool the expertise of all the partners and use this knowledge to develop ground-breaking concepts, and it has found in SATO the right printing solution partner for retail identification, marking and track & trace applications.

Enabling The METRO RFID Mandate

In 2004, METRO announced its RFID mandate requiring its top 100 suppliers to attach the RFID tags to pallets. Many of these suppliers rightly put their faith in SATO as a Gold Partner and its certified RFID Printing solution to meet their compliance requirements. SATO continues to take a leading role in the expansion of the RFID mandate in the supply chain. It was part of the extension phase in 2007 when another 200 German locations operated by the sales brand Real as well as Metro Cash & Carry France will implement RFID technology.
